Homesick, but not for Home

The worst feeling I find is feeling homesick for a place that isn’t where you live. In my short, but fulfilling l have gotten the opportunity to travel quite a bit and I find that there’s a certain… cycle with my emotions that I have noticed throughout all my travels.

Memoir of a Dream

I’ve always thought it was really weird because I’ve always had the most vivid dreams, so vivid in fact until I wake up I genuinely think they’re real and happening. Now maybe that isn’t too odd, everyone has a cool dream and it’s hard to decipher dream from reality unless one is trained in the art of lucid dreaming, but… when I ask around I know very few people who actually remember their dreams when the awake in the morning, whereas I always know just enough to give a detailed description of what adventure I came across the night previous. Are my dreams so eccentrically amazing that my brain just records them for me to remember for all eternity rather than leave room for my calculus equations or is there something more underneath?a57bdd828e33468ac94d2c5d5b1ac5de.jpg

Background Foreground Noground Moreground

I don’t think I’ve ever really mentioned this but I really like clothes. Now I don’t always dress the part, mostly because there’s a certain… stigma… behind dressing nicely. If you don’t dress up nicely every day, the days you do dress up you get a million comments about how you “look so nice today” or asking the “reason you’re all dolled up” which I absolutely hate with every bane of my existence. And then there’s the idea if you dress up nicely every day, the days you don’t you get asked if you’re “sick” or “going through a rough time” which is also really sucks. I absolutely hate it. And I started thinking… why is this a thing? Where did this… aura of dressing up nicely come from? Well here’s my idea.

Look How Far We’ve Come!

I think I’m just going to come right out and say this, this post is going to be a little sentimental, and I just want to look back at the past year that I’ve been blogging. Like, wow it’s hard to believe I’ve been running this blog for about a whole year now, and I just… I find that really incredible because I couldn’t believe I would actually make it this far honestly. So I guess this is going to a bit of a throwback post, even if it’s not Thursday just yet, so sit back and look how far we’ve come since the beginning.

Time to BRAWL!!

For the past couple weeks in my English class, we did this really cool activity which my teacher called a BRAWL, and what was really interesting about it is that it put a twist on the common debate, which I really loved about it.

A basic breakdown of what we did was, we had teams of about 3-4, and we’d get into these teams and discuss predetermined questions, and how we can apply it to books we were reading in class or modern events going on in the outside world, etc. And I thought that was really cool because, personally, I find debating really fun and I just thought it’d be a wonderful experience for me to let myself just go at it, I suppose.

Innovation, Creation, and Just Plain Giving Back

If any of my readers didn’t know, I’m a high school student, and over the past month I planned this really cool project that was just basically 100% giving back to the community, at least, that’s what I thought I was doing.

@projectdayplay was a twitter account we used to update with all our progress on our project, and I think everyone had a good time participating etc, but I think I’d like to get into what we actually did.

Almost There!

Disney’s The Princess and the Frog is such an important movie to me because, not only does it show people of color in excellence, which is always a plus, just the overall themes and morals of the story, how wishing on stars won’t always get you where you need to go, or how no matter how hard you work towards a goal, there’s something more important, that love is there, etc, etc, and just… I think it was such a beautifully done movie, the animation was gorgeous and just I think that it was a really great movie for Disney to end its hand drawn animation period with. Perfection, actually.

But gushing about a basically perfect movie isn’t just what I wanted to talk about, I just wanted to talk, and maybe rant a little about how this movie applies to real life.
